Hikmat or Mudahanat?

Image
If a person goes against the command of Allah Ta'ala, like engaging in interfaith, free mixing with women, promoting falsehood in the name of Islam, and if you feel that he is adopting hikmat, i.e., wisdom, then this is simply a whispering and deception of Shaytan. In reality, it is Mudahanat.  Mudahanat is compromise and selling the Deen. The demand of hikmat is that we aid the cause of Deen and showcase Islam in its pristine form.  Those who resort to Mudahanat drown and cause others to drown with them. They do anything and everything to downplay the importance of Allah Ta'ala, Rasulullah sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, the Sahabah radiyallahu 'anhum, the pious 'Ulama, and the teachings of Islam on the whole.  This Mudahanat is done by criticizing Islamic teaching, twisting the meaning of the Qur'an and Sunnah, mocking the 'Ulama' and features of Islam, subtly promoting modernist trends, agreeing with un-Islamic practices and actions, participating in ...

Ilaah & Ma'bud

Image
"There is no doubt that whoever believes and accepts the divine laws only in the case where they can grasp and comprehend them, and whichever laws are beyond their comprehension, they refute them, or try to reform them and change them, they do not take Allah Ta'ala as their Ma'bud, i.e., deity, but their Ilaah and Ma'bud is their minds and their nafs." Mukhtar-ul-Ummah Sayyed Mufti Mukhtar-ud-Deen Shah damat barakatuhu

Acquiring Foresight [Basirat]

Image
The light in the physical eyes of a person is referred to as Basarat. The light of the heart is referred to as Basirat. The person who is blessed with Basirat is such that the truth is clear to him in such a way that there remains no haze or doubt.  By means of Basirat, a person will be able to apply every ruling of the Shari'ah in its proper place without any difficulty. He will remain protected from doubts and misunderstandings, and he becomes a means of protecting the imaan and yaqeen of others too.  On the other hand, if a person is deprived of Basirat, he will make errors, and what comes from his mouth and limbs will be a means of confusion in the Ummah. If a person has studied the Shar'i sciences and he is deprived of Basirat, then he will cause harm and loss to the Ummah, rather than benefit and goodness. Such a person will present a confused and conflicting portrait of Islam and the Shari'ah to the masses. He will create an environment in which people think bad of t...

A Sign of Imaan being Snatched from a person: Criticism of the Sahabah & Al al-Bayt radiyallahu 'anhum

Image
Shahid-e-Islam Mawlana Muhammad Yusuf Ludhiyanwi rahimahullah said,  I understand that love and honor for all the Aal al-Bayt and the Sahabah radiyallahu 'anhum to be a part of imaan. Whoever criticizes any luminary from amongst them, even if it be by a slight indication, I understand it to be a sign that imaan has been snatched from him/her. This is my belief, and I want to present myself in the court of Allah Ta'ala with this belief. Ikhtilaf-e-Ummat aur Siraat-e-Mustaqeem, p.33, Maktabah Ludhiyanwi

Problems with the “scientific miracles of the Noble Qur’an” narrative – A Layman’s Views

Image
Guest Post: Brother Abul Lais - Singapore  1. Science is a set of tools for discovering mathematical laws/equations that describe the physical/material universe, it’s not a set of dogmatic beliefs that are held rigidly over time. 2. The domain of science is explicitly restricted to the material universe – that part of the cosmos that’s made of matter, atoms and energy, whereas the primary objective of religion is to explain things that are immaterial, spiritual and metaphysical in nature (i.e., things not made of atoms, matter or energy e.g., jinnaat, angels, heaven & hell, life in the grave and ultimately the Being of Allah Ta’ ā l ā ). 3. Allah Ta’ ā l ā has largely left the explanation of material phenomenon to humans to discover by themselves, using the great Allah-given bounties of the 5 senses and the intellect. Even in those worldly matters that have some religious significance, the technical details have been left to humans to discover for themselves. For exampl...

The Meaning of 'Izzat & Dhillat

Image
Sultan-ul-Auliya' Mawlana Ahmad 'Ali Lahori rahimahullah says, "Izzat is not a show (of beauty, wealth, and glory), nor does a person acquire 'izzat through wealth. 'Izzat means to have honor and prestige in the heart of a person. Dhillat, i.e., disgrace and ignominy, means to be low and disgraced in the heart of a person, no matter how much apparent beauty and splendor one might possess. For example, Fir'awn was destroyed despite all his possessions and wealth." [Tafsir Lahori vol.6 p.45]

Breaking the Idols

Image
One of the outstanding features of the life of Sayyiduna Ibrahim 'alayhi as-salaam was his breaking the idols. He went into the temple, broke all the small idols and left the axe hanging from the neck of the largest idol.  A closer look at all the isms being so violently pushed in the faces of Muslims worldwide shows that each of them lead to total blasphemy and disbelief. In essence, each of them is like a small idol. Some of the modern isms include, feminism, secularism, scientism, progressivism, and interfaith.  The end result of following the modern isms is Hedonism, Atheism, and Satanism.  When the above is understood, then we come to understand that each of the modern isms must be broken, just like Sayyiduna Ibrahim 'alayhi as-salaam broke all the small idols.  The modernists are dedicated to the isms, like their idols, and they promote these isms boldly, whilst the traditionalists are dedicated to Tauhid, Risalat, and Akhirat.  Once we break the sm...

ṢALĀH IN A CHURCH, SYNAGOGUE, OR TEMPLE?

Image
With the rise of interfaith and multi-faith, and all related activities, the question has come about regarding performing Ṣ al ā h in a church or place of worship of other religions. A look at the celebrated work of ‘All ā mah ibn ‘ Ā bid ī n Sh ā m ī ra ḥ imahull ā h, Radd al-Mu ḥ t ā r vol.2 pp.559-560, tells us the following, 1.     The reason for the extreme dislike for Ṣ al ā h in the places of worship of the disbelievers is that such places are spots where the Shay āṭī n and demons gather. The Sh ā fi’iyyah have clarified that such places are the abodes of the Shay āṭī n and demons. 2.    One cannot take an oath in the places of worship of the disbelievers. 3.    It is Makr ū h for a Muslim to enter a church and synagogue, it is Makr ū h because such places are spots where the Shay āṭī n and demons gather, and not that a person has no right at all to enter. 4.    It is quite clear that Makr ū h here refers to Makr ū h Ta ḥ r...

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radiyallahu 'anhu - The Most Beloved to Rasulullah sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam

Image
Mawlana Nānotwī rahimahullah was once explaining the highest status of Sayyidunā Abū Bakr radiyallahu 'anhu in the Ummah .  He was saying that with regard to different people, Rasūlullāh sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam  used the word ‘aḥabb’. Sometimes he used it for Sayyidah ‘Ā’isha radiyallahu 'anha , sometimes for Sayyidah Fāṭimah radiyallahu 'anha , sometimes for Sayyidunā Abū Bakr radiyallahu 'anhu  etc.  However, in the aḥādīth, it is mentioned that if he sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam  had to take a khalīl, then he would take Abū Bakr radiyallahu 'anhu  as a khalīl. He did not say this for anyone else.  Once we have come to know this, then understand that there are certain specific things that have certain characteristics, for example, if the letter sheen comes in place of fā’ (in fa’ala), then the meaning is that of loftiness. Like sharaf, sharar, shayṭān etc. Similarly, where the letter khā and lām comes in fa’ala, then the meaning of devo...

There is Great Cure in Durud Sharif

Image
Shah Waliullah Dehlawi rahimahullah says, 'There is cure in Durud Sharif; cure for bodily illnesses, and cure for spiritual illnesses. There are countless virtues for reciting Durud Sharif. One of these virtues is that the person who recites Durud Sharif will be protected from the disgrace of the world, and there will be no decrease in his honor and nobility. A pious person used to say, 'Whatever we have acquired in this world, whether it was worldly bounties, or bounties related to the hereafter, we have acquired all of them through the blessings of Durud Sharif.'' [Al-Qawl Al-Jamil p.103] Subhanallah, let us all make a firm resolution to recite Durud Sharif in abundance, nay, in great abundance.  We will all encourage our families and relatives to recite Durud Sharif in abundance too.  May Allah Ta'ala protect the entire Muslim Ummah from bodily diseases and spiritual diseases through the blessings of Durud Sharif. May Allah Ta'ala fill the lives of all thos...
