The Tabah Foundation in the words of its Founder: Habib 'Ali al-Jifri

[What is the Tabah Foundation?

Tabah Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, chaired by Habib Ali al-Jifri. It focuses on renewing contemporary Islamic discourse, providing research, ethical consulting, and policy recommendations to global opinion-makers.]

Study the following interview Question posed to Habib 'Ali al-Jifri:

The Tabah Foundation, which you established in Abu Dhabi, plays an important role in fostering communication and dialogue with the West. Do you believe it has borne fruit?

- It remains a blessed endeavor—I pray to Allah to bestow upon it the blessings inherent in the name "Tabah," which is one of the names of Madinah. By Allah’s grace, it has already yielded some early fruits; however, the ultimate goal for which it was founded still lies ahead. The mission we hope and pray Allah will enable the Foundation to fulfill is the rehabilitation of contemporary Islamic discourse, making it more accessible and relevant to the broader human experience. Our vision is to achieve this by developing studies, cultivating qualified personnel, and building institutions dedicated to this purpose.

To this end, the Foundation is structured into two branches: one theoretical and one practical. When our organizational development consultants asked whether I envisioned it as a "think tank" or an "action-oriented" body, I suggested we aim for a synthesis—a "thought" tank. This is because one of the core challenges facing Islamic discourse today is the disconnect between the theoretical thinker and the practitioner—the preacher or advocate—on the ground. The theorist often becomes so deeply immersed in abstraction that they lose touch with reality, while the practitioner, busy in the field, lacks the time to engage with the theorist’s ideas.

Consequently, the theoretical branch of Tabah functions as a research division. It produces analytical summaries of research, surveys, and studies concerning Islamic discourse—many of which originate from non-Muslim sources—and disseminates them to preachers, media figures, scholars, and leaders across the Muslim world. These resources are available on the Foundation’s website: tabahfoundation.org. For instance, there is an analytical summary regarding the impending "nanometer" era—a term referring to the age of nanotechnology—and the associated jurisprudential and ethical challenges. There are also various research papers, including one prepared for the delegation of the "A Common Word" (Kalimat Sawa') initiative during their visit to the Vatican; this paper examines the contemporary Catholic Church’s stance toward Islam and clarifies the significance and weight of statements issued by the Pope. This constitutes the research division.

A second division at "Tabah" focuses on institutional development—either by enhancing existing institutions or by establishing new ones deemed necessary to serve Islamic discourse—such as the Zayed House for Islamic Culture in the UAE and the European Academy for Islamic Sciences and Culture in Belgium.

A third division, the "Initiatives" department, is dedicated to launching various projects. One such initiative, titled "Li-Ta'arafu" (So That You May Know One Another), aims to build bridges of communication between Muslims and non-Muslims. This initiative led to our partnership with the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan—facilitated through the "A Common Word" initiative—and included the organization of a training program for Arab youth, equipping them to address common questions about Islam.

Note: It is clear as daylight from the above that one of the main roles of the Tabah Foundation is INTERFAITH. We learn this from the response of Habib 'Ali al-Jifri, wherein he states the involvement of Tabah with the COMMON WORD initiative. The common word initiative is interfaith through and through, this is stated in the title of its website.

Interfaith is blasphemy. Interfaith is denial of the Khatm-un-Nubuwwah. We seek the protection of Allah Ta'ala from the deviance related to interfaith.

There is no goodness that lies in interfaith. Interfaith is a disaster designed to rob a Muslim of his identity and bow to the Zionist Agenda. Scholars like Habib 'Ali al-Jifri and Habib 'Umar are at the forefront of the common word initiative. Their students do the same on the ground. Hence, be wary of them, and warn others of the same.

May Allah allow us to see the truth as the truth and the ability to follow it. May Allah allow us to see falsehood as falsehood and the ability to flee from it. Ameen
