The Most Misguided Sect According to the Ahl al-Bayt radiyallahu 'anhum



Sayyiduna Ali raḍiyallāhu 'anhu said: "This nation will certainly split into different sects, and the most misguided and evil sect will be the one that will call to the Ahl al-Bayt (i.e., they will attribute themselves to the Ahl al-Bayt). Their sign will be that they will speak ill of and abuse Abu Bakr and Umar raḍiyallāhu 'anhuma." [Al-Ibanah Al-Kubra vol.1 p.188 #291]

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas raḍiyallāhu 'anhuma that the Jews divided into seventy-one sects, the Christians into seventy-two sects, and you, O Ummah of Muhammad, will divide into seventy-three sects. The most misguided, evil, and wicked sect among them is the one who reviles Abu Bakr and Umar.

I have closely followed societal trends in the past, but now I feel empty of what I would previously experience from my practices as a Muslim, without the frills and fusses of modernism.
