'Mainstream Islam'

 

The signatories of the controversial and problematic Global Imams and Scholars Charter have agreed upon what they refer to as 'mainstream Islam'. 

The controversial and problematic charter has been signed without the consent of the general Muslim public, hence it falls under the umbrella of a select few who desire to polarize the Muslim Ummah, cause disunity, dissent, argumentation, and discord.

The word 'mainstream', as selected by the organizations in the Global Imams and Scholars Charter is, in actual fact, very apt and suitable for them and the cause they pursue.

An analysis of the word 'mainstream', as popularly used reveals some really interesting things. The word 'mainstream' is most often used with 'media', i.e., 'mainstream media'.

Mainstream media faces significant criticism for declining trust, and is characterized by sensationalism, misinformation, and conflict of interest. In the same way, those who want to project an image of Islam as all embracing, accommodating, and inclusive, also face declining trust, because of their spread of misinformation about true Islam. 

The signatories of the Global Imams and Scholars Charter also sensationalize their actions, making them seem as though the world will fall apart if Muslims around the world do not embrace their heresy and controversy. 

 Mainstream media has a negative impact on the mental health and well being of a person. In the same way, 'mainstream Islam' has a negative impact on all those who want to subscribe to it, and try to establish it as true and legitimate. It leaves the liberal and modernist who wants to subscribe to it in a quandary, running helter-skelter, in search of genuine answers to issues facing the Muslim Ummah.  

The signatories of the Global Imams and Scholars Charter label the common Muslims as 'extremists' for not adhering to their warped and distorted version of Islam. The fact of the matter is that the liberals and modernists who polarize the Muslim community are the real extremists because they resort to the worst levels of extremity in their attempt to attack, argue against, and distort the message of the Noble Qur'an and the blessed Sunnah. 

The Rawafid and Shia split into splinter groups, some extreme, like the Ghulat sects. In the same way, the liberals and modernists are also split into different splinter camps, based on the level of their extremism. 

The Ghulat sects ended up vilifying each other. Soon enough, the liberals and modernists will end up vilifying each other on the basis of their extremism in distorting the message of true Islam and mockery of the true Muslims. 

The Ghulat sects died away because the common person saw through the lies, misinformation, and sensationalism. Similarly, the liberals and modernists will also die out, because their lies, misinformation and sensationalism is being unmasked now on a daily basis. 

May Allah Ta'ala protect the Muslim Ummah from all forms of heresy and deviation, especially the modern day deviation of liberalism and modernism. Ameen
