Fountain of Dedication

Image
Alḥamdulillāh, it is through the grace and mercy of Allāh Ta’ālā that He created the opportunity and means to meet with a great and noble scholar of our time in 2009 after seeing his unique work. His dedication, inspiring methodology, and gems of advice are all held very dear to my heart. May Allāh Ta’ālā illuminate the grave of our beloved mentor and guide, who had passed on [8 Sha’bān 1439|25 April 2018]. Muftī Afzal Hoosen Elias raḥimahullāh had encouraged me, from time to time, to start a website or blog for the service of the Ummah. Alḥamdulillāh, now that the means and avenues have opened and the chance to serve the Ummah in this way has become ever more essential, we have taken this step. We make du’ā’ to Allāh Ta’ālā to accept all the work on MAKTABAH AL-IMĀM AL-GHAZĀLĪ to be a means of Iṣāl-uth-Thawāb for Marḥūm Muftī Afzal Hoosen Elias raḥimahullāh. All readers are requested to remember Muftī Afzal Hoosen Elias raḥimahullāh in their du’ā’s. Āmīn

Sayyidunā Qatādah Ibn Nu'mān radiyallāhu 'anhu Loses an Eye at Uḥud

Image
Sayyidunā Qatādah Ibn Nu'man ra ḍ iyallahu 'anhu narrates, "On the day of Uḥud, I positioned myself right in front of the face of Ras ū lull ā h ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam. I directed my face towards the enemy so that my face may bear the brunt of the arrows, instead of the blessed face of Ras ū lull ā h ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam. One of the last arrows of the enemy landed with such force on my face that my eyeball popped out. holding it in my hand, I turned towards Ras ū lull ā h ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam. When he caught sight of my eye, his eyes welled up with tears and he made du' ā  for me, "O All ā h, just as Qat ā dah protected the face of your Nabi, protect his face and restore his eye to a condition better and sharper than what it was." Saying this, Ras ū lull ā h ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam took the eyeball and placed it into its socket. Instantly, my eyesight was restored. In fact, my eyesight turned out to be better...

Is Interfaith a Matter of Difference of Opinion?

Image
The advocates of Interfaith raise deceptive slogans from time to time, like a failing trickster working ferociously to pull out a living rabbit from a dead hat.  One of the recent slogans, from the box of tricks, states that Interfaith is a matter of difference of opinion, and it is just the hardliners who object to it.  Well, in their tiring and failing venture to get Muslims to swallow the lies, hook, line, and sinker, the Interfaith advocates do not realise that the question itself stands in direct conflict with the Noble Qur'an and the belief system of the Ahl-us-Sunnah wal Jama'ah. No evidence suggests Interfaith Iftars and Masjid Open Days were part and parcel of the methodology of Rasulullah sallallahu 'alayhi was sallam.  How odd?  The Interfaith advocates were standing gleefully, just yesterday, teaching that the previous scriptures were changed, and contain blasphemy, and now they wickedly smirk with the very opposite message. May Allah Ta'ala save us from ...

Inspiration from the life of ‘Abdullāh Ibn Mubārak raḥimahullāh

Image
In Tartīb Al-Madārik, Qāḍī ‘Iyāḍ raḥimahullāh mentions a unique incident about ‘Abdullāh Ibn Mubārak raḥimahullāh, as he was on his way to perform ḥajj. He reports that ‘Abdullāh Ibn Mubārak raḥimahullāh entered Kufa and saw a young woman plucking a dead duck. Since it is impermissible to consume carrion, he asked her if it was sacrificed. She replied that it was not. “Then why are you plucking it?” he asked. She replied, “So that my family and I can eat it.” He informed her that it was not permissible to do so, so she said, “Go away.” In a narration of Ibn Kathīr raḥimahullāh, she said, “My brother and I have only one piece of clothing. We have no food except what we find thrown in the dumps. Carrion has become permissible for us to consume for a number of days now (due to severe poverty). Our father was a rich man but his wealth was taken from him oppressively and he was killed.” ‘Abdullāh Ibn Mubārak raḥimahullāh asked about the whereabouts of her family, and she informed him. He h...

The Higher Objectives of the Sharī’ah: Nuanced Application or Genuine Abuse?

Image
The pure divine law, i.e., Sharī’ah, as enshrined in the Noble Qur’ān and Blessed Aḥādīth bear countless advantages, pearls of wisdom and benefit for those who sincerely accept and adhere to it. Modernists, on the other hand, apply their hollow thinking methods to scuttle the application of the pure divine law – based on the Noble Qur’ān, Blessed Aḥādīth, ‘Ijmā (consensus) of the Muslim Ummah and Qiyās (analogical deduction). Instead of denying the law, i.e., Sharī’ah, they apply the veneer of Islam – calling it ‘Maqāṣid’ – upon their base and lowly desires and sugarcoat rulings that conflict with the entire history of Islamic scholarship. Modernists use their intellect and deficient understanding to determine what contains benefit and what entails harm. In essence, the Maqāṣid that are sourced from pristine and unadulterated texts are being flipped on their head by the Modernists today and are being replaced with ‘Maqāṣid’ that clash with the texts that are held with the highe...

Mawlānā Muḥammad Qāsim Nānotwī raḥimahullāh [1832 – 1880]

Image
Mawlānā Muḥammad Qāsim Nānotwī raḥimahullāh was an extremely simple person in his ways and habits, but exceptionally brilliant, and a genius in Islāmic knowledge. There were very few who could match him in piety, knowledge, wit, profound understanding, and farsightedness. He passed away at the young age of forty-nine, but the legacy he left behind took the world by surprise. Up to this day, his legacy flows throughout the Ummah. During his time, the Christian missionaries would stand on the stairs of the Jāmi’ Masjid of Delhi and hurl abuse at Sayyidunā Muḥammad Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Priests would distribute literature and challenge the poor Muslims to debates, saying that they would prove that the only road to success is Christianity. Mawlānā Muḥammad Qāsim Nānotwī raḥimahullāh bravely challenged them in public and answered all of their objections against Islām. In this way, he saved the īmān of thousands of people. He was responsible for the establishment of Dā...

Guarding Khatm-e-Nubuwwah

Image
Muḥaddith-ul-‘Aṣr Mawlānā Muḥammad Anwar Shāh Kashmīrī raḥimahullāh once sat down in his circle of knowledgeable discourses and said, “I say the following, with foresight, i.e., deep and complete research, that serving the ḥadīth is also serving the Dīn of Allāh Ta’ālā. Serving the Noble Qur’ān is also an important service. Serving Tafsīr is also, undoubtedly, a great fortune. Serving Fiqh is also a great bounty. Doing Tablīgh is also important work. However, guarding Khatm-e-Nubuwwah is guarding the being of Sayyidunā Muḥammad Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. The rest of the services involves guarding and protecting words and speech, actions and works. They involve guarding and protecting the Sīrah of Sayyidunā Muḥammad Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, guarding and protecting the form and features of Sayyidunā Muḥammad Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, guarding and protecting the deeds of Sayyidunā Muḥammad Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and guar...

"Learn your History" - Shaykh Muḥammad ‘Awwāmah ḥafiẓahullāh

Image
“Every Ummah and every nation does not read its history. Hence, they are unable to map out their future. It is binding upon us to build our future upon our previous accomplishments, upon our great and noble past. This is because there is no nation on the face of the earth that has a great history like our Ummah, the Ummah Islāmiyyah Muḥammadiyyah.” Source: https://t.me/muhammed_avvama

The Pledge of Alast

Image
When your Rabb extracted from the backs of the children of Ādam their descendants and called them to witness over themselves saying, ‘Am I not your Rabb?’ They replied, ‘Certainly, we testify to it.’ So that you do not say on the day of Qiyāmah, ‘Indeed we were unaware of this.’ [Sūrah Al-A’rāf: 172] Ḥujjat-ul-Islām Mawlānā Qāsim Nānotwī raḥimahullāh has explained that the objective of studying the basics of a science or field is not to fully encompass and grasp the entire subject, with its characteristics and specialities. The objective is to build the capacity and ability that will serve as a foundation to seek knowledge in future. For example, learning the letters ‘alif’, ‘hā’ etc. is not that a person remembers his days as he learnt them or the script of the letters, but the objective of this basic and primary education is simply to recognize the letters, even if the mind of the person does not ever turn in the direction of the one who taught him those letters later on in h...

The Abrahamic Religion: An Evil Agenda Against Islām

Image
2021, August 1, was a memorable Sunday morning. Muftī Raḍa-ul- Ḥ aq, the most senior Ustādh at Dār-ul-‘Ulūm Zakariyya, South Africa, delivered a beautiful a nd thought-provoking lecture on the newfound Abrahamic Religion, in his masterful way. It has been translated from the original Urdu and transcribed here for the benefit of the Ummah. In the name of Allāh, the Beneficent, the Merciful All praise is for Allāh Ta’ālā, may peace and salutations be upon our leader, Sayyidunā Mu ḥ am mad, his family and companions Scholars and friends, much has happened over the last few days. One subject is that it is being spoken about and propaganda of it is being spread all over, in order to make the entire world one, the Abrahamic Religion is being promoted and all are asked to agree to it. After this, the adherents of these faiths would be required to make friends and establish bonds. In reality, this is being done to deceive the Muslims. (Time and again, in the Noble Qur’ān, Allāh Ta’...

Imām Abū Manṣūr Al-Maturīdī raḥimahullāh; Imām Ahl-us-Sunnah; Imām ul Hudā

Image
Adapted & Translated from Al-Fārūq, Karachi; vol.35 no.2 (Safar 1440), vol.35 no.3 (Rabi-ul-Awwal 1440) In the beginning of Al-Muhannad ‘alal Mufannad, Shaykh-ul-Muḥaddithīn Mawlānā Khalīl Aḥmad Sahāranpūrī raḥimahullāh has clarified that in Fiqhī Ijtihādāt, we follow Imām Abū Ḥanīfah Nu’mān Ibn Thābit raḥimahullāh, and in Aqīdah discussions and methodology, we follow Imām Abul Ḥasan Al- Ash’arī raḥimahullāh and Imām Abū Manṣūr Al-Māturīdī raḥimahullāh. At this point, the answers to two questions must be borne in mind. First: In matters of ‘Aqīdah, Taqlīd is not permitted. So, what is the meaning of following Imām Abul Ḥasan Ash’arī raḥimahullāh or Imām Abū Manṣūr Al-Māturīdī raḥimahullāh? Answer: There are two angles of the answer: 1. There are two types of ‘Aqā’id; (i) Uṣūl Al-‘Aqā’id (ii) Furū’ Al-‘Aqā’id With regards to the topic of ‘Aqīdah, one does not adopt Taqlīd in the Uṣūl al-‘Aqā’id. In the Furū’ of Aqā’id, Taqlīd is permitted. This is because the Furū’ (subsi...
