Exposing 4 Lies of Iran: Mawlana Afzal Ismail
Truth:
Iran frames its actions as resistance, but its engagement has largely served its own interests. For decades after 1948, despite Israel’s murderous wars and genocide in Palestine, Iran did not confront Israel militarily.

Iran has never bombed Israel in defense of Palestinians despite the advanced military capabilities we are now seeing from Iran. The only occasions when Iran did bomb Israel, is when Iran was attacked.
Lie 2: Opposing Iran is sowing sectarian differences in the Ummah
Truth:
Instead of framing criticism of Iran as sectarian, we need to understand that it was the Iranian Shia regime that has caused some of the worst sectarian violence imaginable. Iran declared the Syrian conflict as a war between Islam and kufr (disbelief) resulting in the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims. Iran suppressed Islam in Iran through the murder of countless Muslims and the abolition of Islamic practices. Iran supported the USA in their invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lie 3: Iran must be the “good side” against Israel because Sunni-majority states are doing nothing.
Truth:
The failure or inaction of a third party does not automatically validate another in a conflict. The legitimacy or moral standing of any state—including Iran— is not determined in contrast to the shortcomings of others, but by its own policies, actions and principles. That most Muslim states are puppet regimes of the USA and the West, does not mean Iran is good. An independent assessment of Iran proves that it has failed to uphold the Islamic values it makes claim to.

Lie 4: Muslims should support Iran because the Twelver Shia are Muslim
Truth:
The Twelver Shia are not Muslim. They believe the Qur'an to be tampered with and not in its complete form. They believe that their Imams are sinless and of higher status than the Ambiya. They curse prominent Sahabah such as Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman radiyallahu 'anhum. They slander Aisha radiyallahu 'anha by accusing her of adultery. These core beliefs of the Shia constitute clear-cut disbelief which renders them out of the fold of Islam.

In summary, when two inherently evil states – such as Iran and Israel - fight each other, the correct stance for a Muslim is to observe, as each inflicts harm on the other. There is no need to take sides. We should make du'a that all oppressors are eliminated and replaced with righteous rulers.
