Shaykh Mustafa Sabri rahimahullah on Tajdid & Imitation
The "renewal" (tajdid) we often witness is motivated by imitation, i.e., taqlid. There's a big difference between imitation and [true] renewal. Many reinterpretations of verses that occur under the guise of "renewal" are more deserving of being called "alteration", i.e., tahrif, as opposed to [genuine] "interpretation". -

Note: The Modernists, Liberals, and Reformists pride themselves in bringing 'new' discourse to the table. The reality is that they bring nothing new. They are simply following their desires and the desires of other Modernists and Liberals. They claim renewal and tajdid, but are in fact, practicing ifsad, i.e., corruption.
[Shaykh Mustafa Sabri bin Ahmad [1869 - 1954] was a leading Muslim intellectual of the 20th century, born in Tokat, Türkiye. Sultan Abdul Hamid II held Shaykh Mustafa Sabri in high regard and entrusted him with overseeing his personal library.
He was appointed 'Shaykh-ul-Islam' in 1919, the highest religious office in the Ottoman political structure, holding this position intermittently for around 8 months.
He actively engaged with contemporary debates, critiquing modernist, liberal, and secular ideologies and affirming the relevance of Islamic teachings in the present era. May Allah Ta'ala reward him on our behalf and accept us to follow in his footsteps. Ameen]
